Spent independence weekend in Baler with the family!
In the 3-day trip we had, I was tested, in all ways I could possibly think—patience, endurance, emotions, and reasoning to name a few. It was delusional to say that I’ve planned Baler in my head months before. I knew what I had to do to enjoy the place, to have fun, and to prove something to myself. Baler is a self-imposed challenge.
I wanted to be a spontaneous person. Something I couldn’t afford to be because I’ve always been the responsible kind. There are many things that restrict me to do so, and chances do not always come. So I’ve made up my mind that Baler will be my opportunity and it’s something I cannot waste.
In a thousand words or more, here’s how the trip went:
When my uncle from Taiwan arrived, the family decided to spend the 4-day vacation at the City of Pines. And so we did. Here's my little photoblog of the city.
Last Sunday, February 16, 2014, my family and I were able to visit Regina RICA or Regina Rosarii Institute for Contemplation in Asia located in Sitio Aguho Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal. I'm not very familiar with the towns of Rizal but traveling to the church would require you to take Marcos Highway towards a zigzag route overlooking the mountains. Be sure to fuel up before leaving Cogeo.
Regina RICA is a sacred ground of prayer, pilgrimage, and peace--as mentioned by Sister Eppie before the mass at 11:00 AM started. It was indeed a good place to visit if you're after some quiet time to contemplate and talk to God. However, it is important to take note of the church's policies on dress codes and places to eat. They are very strict about keeping the place quiet and clean.
